Forty-three year veteran music educator, author, clinician, choral consultant and Choral Editor, Denise Eaton is known for her innovative and practical teaching styles, clinician and in guiding teachers as they grow and refine their teaching craft.
Having presented more than seventy-five pedagogical workshops at state and regional conferences she is the co-author of SMART (Sight Reading Made Accessible Readable and Teachable), SMART Minor, InSight Singing and STEPS: Strategies & Tools Encouraging Proficient Sight Singing. Eaton is the editor of Choral Error Detection by Paul Hondorp and Yes, You Can! The Band Director’s Guide to Teaching Choir by Derrick Fox. Eaton taught high school for twenty-nine years where choirs under her direction enjoyed success at every competition and festival in which they participated. She was an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University for seven years where she taught Secondary Choral Methods and conducted the Women’s Choir. She is a frequent clinician/conductor for honor and festival choirs in Texas and beyond and maintains a busy schedule of secondary professional development workshops and clinics for individual choirs. The former Choral Editor of Carl Fischer and BriLee Music for 13 years, Denise is a strong advocate for music education. Eaton proudly served as the Vocal Vice-President and the President of the Texas Music Educator’s Association. Her most favorite "role", however, is a being DeeDee to her Grandchildren Sophie and Peter. |
